Larkin/Shoemaker House -

Center Sandwich NH

This design proves that sustainable can be both beautiful and comfortable. Meticulously built to a R-50 insulation level, the 2,400 square foot space has no central heating system, yet remains a temperate 60 degrees year-round in a northern New Hampshire mountain environment. For additional comfort in winter, a masonry wood stove warms the home. The very low maintenance exterior combines natural cedar shingles, cedar trim and a brick-faced foundation. The interior, featuring great open dining and entry spaces, is bathed in the generous sunlight of maximal southern exposure. For instant relaxation, a screened porch offers an inviting mountain view.
